Batter Up Is Here: A Calmer Clipboard for Game Day

June 30, 2026 · by Ryan Thompson

It's live, and I could not be more excited. Batter Up is a free youth baseball lineup app built for coaches, by a coach. If you've ever stood by the dugout juggling a paper lineup and trying to remember who's sat too long, this one's for you.

What it does

What it deliberately doesn't do

No accounts. No ads. And critically, no data server. Everything you enter stays on your own phone, Batter Up never uploads your roster anywhere, so your kids' names are never online or searchable. (We do use privacy-minded site analytics to count visits, but it never sees your team data.) When you share a lineup, the details ride inside the link itself. Use first names and last initials and you're set. For a tool that touches children's information, I think that's the only responsible way to build it.

Built to be accessible

Accessibility isn't an afterthought here, it's my day job. Batter Up is built toward WCAG 2.1 standards: strong color contrast, large touch targets, readable type, keyboard and screen-reader friendly markup, and it works in any browser with no install. If you use assistive technology and hit a snag, I want to hear about it. You can learn more about accessible design at AX4E (Access for Everyone).

Who's behind it

I'm Ryan Thompson, founder of Mention Group, a youth baseball coach, a dad, and a genuinely huge baseball fan. Batter Up is my personal project, not a Mention Group product, just something I built because game day should feel calmer and every kid deserves a fair shot to play.

So: grab your roster, set your order, plan your rotation, and go coach. I'll see you at the field.
