Batter Up
Privacy Policy

Who runs this
Batter Up is a personal project created by Ryan Thompson, a parent and youth baseball coach. It is offered under the TailGreat name as a free utility. It is not a product or service of Mention Group or any employer, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Little League Baseball, Major League Baseball, or any league or team.
What we collect
We do not collect your team's information on any server. There are no user accounts. The roster, batting order, defensive rotation, pitch counts, notes, and song titles you type are stored only in your browser on your own device (using local browser storage), so the app remembers them between visits and they are never uploaded to us.
Analytics
To understand how many people use the site and which pages are popular, we use Google Analytics (GA4). It collects standard, aggregate web-analytics data such as page views, device type, and approximate region, and it sets cookies for this purpose. GA4 does not store full IP addresses, and we do not use it for advertising or to identify you. Critically, Google Analytics never receives the roster, player names, pitch counts, or anything else you type into Batter Up — that data stays on your device. You can opt out using Google's Analytics Opt-out add-on or your browser's privacy settings. Use of Google Analytics is also governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Children's information
Batter Up is meant to be used by coaches and parents, not by children directly, and it is designed to minimize any information about kids. We ask that you enter first names and last initials only (for example, "Bruce T."), and avoid photos, birthdates, addresses, or other identifying details. Because no information is sent to or stored by us on a server, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are concerned about information a coach entered about your child, ask that coach to edit or delete it on their device.
Sharing a lineup
When you use the Share feature, the lineup details are encoded inside the link itself, not stored on a server. Anyone who has the link or scans the QR code can view that lineup. Please share links only with your team, parents, and coaches, and not in public posts. Keeping to first names and initials means that even a shared link reveals very little.
What the app connects to
Fonts and the app's code are served from our own site (nothing loads from third-party font servers). The app sends aggregate usage pings to Google Analytics (see above). Optional buttons can open your device's own Messages app or share sheet, or open Spotify search in a new tab if you choose. Beyond that, the app does not transmit your data, and a browser-level content security policy restricts it to these few services and blocks your team data from being sent anywhere.
Your control
You can edit or delete any player or clear all data at any time from within the app, or by clearing your browser's storage for this site. Because the data lives on your device, removing it there removes it.
Changes
This policy may be updated as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted by updating the date above.
